A mountain rescuer from Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team (Lake District, UK) was severly injured yesterday (Sunday) after falling 150 meters down the side of Red Screes while rescuing 2 campers, one with chest pains. The mountain rescuer has spinal injuries and facial fractures. It will be a long recovery and these injuries are reported as “life changing”.
The 2 campers had driven from Leicester and Liverpool, car sharing to camp in the Lakedistrict. They have both been fined £200 by Cumbria Police for breaking lockdown restrictions. The one with chest pains is fine, having been assisted by the Penrith Mountain Rescue Team and Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team (LAMRT).
