Invitation to International Cave Rescue Exercise in Skalarjevo brezno 2018, Slovenia - ECRA

Cave Rescue Service of Slovenia / Speleological Association of Slovenia organizes an International Cave Rescue exercise in Skalarjevo brezno in the period from September 28^th to 30^th2018. Cave rescue services – ERCRA members are welcome to participate this International exercise.

Date

28^th – 30^th September 2018

The first participants will start to arrive on Friday, September 28^th in the afternoon, the rest are expected to arrive until 09:00 on Saturday, when the exercise is planned to begin in operation phase.

Location

Meeting point for the participants will be at sport airport Bovec. Active Participants are expected to arrive by Saturday morning at 09:00.

The exercise will take place in a cave Skalarjevo brezno, which is accessible by helicopter and 30 min of walking.

Exercise goals

extract the victim from depth of 900 m
assess readiness of the teams for extraction
assess the ability of international teams to work together focusing on organization, logistics, etc.
improve the ability of international teams to work together
assess the ability of the team leaders to select the appropriate equipment and its quantity for the assigned part of the cave
assess inter- and intra-team work
improve organization of logistics during a prolonged activity

This exercise is unique opportunity to test international cave rescue collaboration of many services that is necessary in the case of accident in big and deep cave.

Friday

afternoon arrival and accommodation

from 09:00 formation of teams and distribute equipment

until 12:00 extract the victim

until 18:00 analysis and departure

Accommodation, food

Place to put up tents will be available at airport Bovec and on the top of mountain Kanina (near the cave entrance). A few big tents will also be available.

The following meals will be provided for the participants:

Friday: dinner
Saturday: sandwiches for the cave
Sunday: sandwiches and lunch/dinner

Registration data

Every member state (ECRA member’s organization) can register up to 7 team members – rescuers. We expect your registration until Sep 10^th 2018 to one of the contact e-mails.

Each organization must take care of accident insurance for their participants as it will not be covered by the organizers.
